U.S. Dept. of Housing Refunds

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Communities (HUD) is a branch of the government that was founded in 1965. The principal goal of HUD is to help with housing and city development. HUD helps many low to mid income families with buying a home by offering counseling, grant funding, recommending lenders etc.

They may owe you a refund if you had an FHA insured mortgage.

According to the FHA Homeowners Fact Sheet:

You may be eligible for a Premium Refund if you got your loan after 9/1/1983, never defaulted on a payment and paid an upfront mortgage insurance premium at closing.

You may be eligible for a Distributive Share from the Mutual Mortgage Insurance fund if your loan originated before 9/1/1983, you paid on the loan for over seven years and your FHA insurance was terminated prior to 11/5/1990.
